Ingredients:

1.5 lbs ground beef or burger patties
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hamburger buns
8 slices cheddar cheese
1 cup lettuce, shredded
1 large tomato, sliced
1 red onion, thinly sliced
Pickles for topping
Ketchup and mustard for serving

Instructions:

1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat.
2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season each patty with salt and pepper.
3. Grill the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness.
4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Allow the cheese to melt.
5. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
6. Assemble your double cheeseburgers by placing a cheddar cheese-topped patty on the bottom of the bun.
7. Top the patty with tomato slices, red onion, lettuce and pickles.
8. Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the buns, then place them on top of the assembled burgers.
