Recipe of the week - Spaghetti Bolognese π¨βπ³
Ingredients:
* 1 lb (450g) ground beef
* 1 onion, finely chopped
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 carrot, grated
* 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
* 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 1 can (14 oz/400g) crushed tomatoes
* 2 tbsp tomato paste
* 1 tsp dried oregano
* 1 tsp dried basil
* 1/2 tsp dried thyme
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1/2 cup (120ml) beef or vegetable broth
* 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk or heavy cream
* 1 lb (450g) spaghetti
* Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
* Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, carrots, celery, and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste. Mix well. Season with oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Pour in the beef or vegetable broth and the milk or cream. Stir to combine. Simmer the sauce over low heat for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can add a bit more broth.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Once the sauce has simmered and thickened, taste and adjust the seasoning. Serve the bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs.
Serve your delicious spaghetti bolognese hot and enjoy!
