🍽️ Recipe of the Week: Classic Meatloaf 👨🍳
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Fresh parsley
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, grated carrot, minced garlic, and the dried herbs (thyme, oregano, and paprika).
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
4. Pour the wet mixture over the meat mixture and gently combine until well mixed. Be cautious not to overmix.
5. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
6. Bake the meatloaf for about 1 hour, or until its internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
7. During the last 10 minutes of baking, you can brush the top of the meatloaf with additional ketchup or a ketchup-brown sugar mixture for a delightful glaze.
8. Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
9. Garnish the meatloaf with a generous sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness.
10. Slice the meatloaf and serve it alongside your preferred sides. Whether it's creamy mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad, the choice is yours!
Enjoy! 😋
